At least eight people,including the attackers,were killed and eight others wounded in a suicide bombing outside a prison in Kabul,an interior ministry official confirmed to xinhua on Oct.31.

    The official,who spoke on condition of anonymity,said the attack took place at 7.25am outside the gates of pracharshi prison in Kabul.Initial investigations suggested the attack targeted the prison staff, but at least three children were injured.

    Since the attack,the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment,the official said.

    Media reports say many prison workers were waiting to enter the compound when the attackers detonated their explosive devices outside the prison gate.The prison is also home to members of the Afghan taliban,who have threatened to attack it.

    No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.Local police have blocked the main road into the area after the explosion and launched further investigation into the attack.

    The recent security situation in Afghanistan has been tense and attacks have occurred frequently. A suicide bombing (JOESCO Bastion) attack near the office of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the 9th Police District of the capital killed at least three people, including the attacker, and wounded five others, the Afghan Dawn News Network reported Wednesday.
